This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join Barnardo’s as an Administrative Assistant to support the following Services across Newport, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouthshire to support children, young people and their families.

  • Divert in Newport and across Gwent.
  • Monmouth Families Together in Usk, Monmouthshire.
  • Opening Closed Doors across Gwent.

The base for the post will be in Newport however you will be required to work from Usk for approximately 1 day/month.


About the Services


Divert:
Divert is an early intervention service that supports young people and their families who are at risk of serious and organised crime or serious youth violence.


Monmouth Families Together:
This new service offers support to children who are on a Kinship Care Order to revoke the Care Order.


Opening Closed Doors:
This is a domestic abuse service that provides support for the whole family.


Job Role

You will have excellent computer skills, ability to enter data onto systems accurately and in a timely manner, have a good working knowledge of MS Office products and the ability to pick up local data systems with training. You will also have good organisational and communication skills and ability to adapt quickly to the varied the work needed to support staff to meet the needs of the services. You will have the ability to prioritise work and work as part of a team in a very busy office environment.

You will have:

  • Experience in service user record administration.
  • Experience in data entry.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Additional Information:

Please include as much relevant detail in your application to demonstrate how you fulfil the requirements of our Family Support Worker job role, as outlined above and in the Job Description/Personal Specification. Experience can be from previous employment, education, training, volunteering etc.

Interviews will involve a scenario based question followed by an interview with two panel members. We will then give you the opportunity to meet some of the young people we are currently supporting so that they can explore some further questions with you.

Although this contract has a permanent status, please be aware that this post is subject to continued funding and therefore should this funding not be extended further, you may be subject to a redundancy consultation or a TUPE arrangement.
Funding is currently until 31 March 2021.
