Core Responsibilities & Daily Duties
- Site Security & Access Control: Maintain the security integrity of the Leeds Logistics Hub by monitoring all access points, verifying credentials of personnel and visitors, and logging all movements in and out of the facility. Operate gatehouse systems, CCTV surveillance equipment, and patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect unauthorized activity.
- Incident Response & Reporting: Act as the first point of contact for any security incidents, alarms, or emergencies. This includes conducting initial investigations, liaising with emergency services if required, and producing detailed, accurate incident reports for both the client and Temporary Staff Agency. Your vigilance is key to preventing loss and ensuring safety.
- Asset & Property Protection: Proactively protect high-value goods, warehouse equipment, and commercial vehicles within the logistics park. Monitor loading bays, storage areas, and perimeters to prevent theft, vandalism, or damage. A keen eye for detail is essential in this fast-paced supply chain environment.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce site-specific health and safety protocols, including fire safety regulations, traffic management within the hub, and COVID-19 guidelines if applicable. Contribute to a culture of safety for all staff, including Construction Workers on site and warehouse operatives.
- Customer Service & Professional Conduct: Represent both the client and Temporary Staff Agency with the highest degree of professionalism. Provide clear directions and assistance to drivers, contractors, and staff. Effective communication and a calm, authoritative demeanour are crucial for de-escalating situations and maintaining order.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
-
1Valid SIA Licence: A current and valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence for Door Supervision or Security Guarding is mandatory for this role. We can advise on training providers if you need to obtain or renew your licence.
-
2Proven Experience: Previous experience in a security role, preferably within an industrial, logistics, or warehouse setting. Experience with CCTV systems, patrols, and access control is highly advantageous.
-
3Right to Work & References: You must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. We will require a full 5-year checkable work history and satisfactory references.
-
4Personal Attributes: Reliability, integrity, and a strong observational sense. You must be physically fit for patrol duties, able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting.
Desirable Skills (Not Essential)
First Aid at Work certificate, experience with two-way radio systems, knowledge of fire safety procedures, and a full UK driving licence. - Day Shifts: Typically 06:00 - 18:00 or 08:00 - 20:00.

- Weekend Shifts: 12-hour days or nights covering Saturdays and Sundays.

Yes, absolutely. While experience is preferred, we work with clients who are willing to consider candidates with a valid SIA licence and the right attitude. We look for transferable skills from other roles – for example, customer service, working under pressure, or procedural compliance. Your dedication to obtaining the licence shows initiative. We can often place you in a supporting role or a site with additional training to help you build your practical experience. Be honest about your background during registration.
For candidates with all documentation ready (valid SIA licence, right-to-work proof, and references), the process can be extremely fast. It is possible to be registered, vetted, and placed on a shift within 2-3 days, sometimes even sooner for urgent cover. The speed depends on how quickly we can verify your details and the specific client's onboarding requirements. The key is to respond promptly to our consultant's requests for information.
As an agency worker, you are employed by Temporary Staff Agency and assigned to work at our client's site (the Leeds Logistics Hub). We handle your payroll, holiday pay, and provide ongoing support. This offers great flexibility – you can try different sites and roles without long-term commitment. Many of our assignments are"temp-to-perm," meaning if you excel and a permanent vacancy arises, you may be offered a direct position with the client. For a detailed comparison, watch our video "How Much I Earn as a Temp Agency Worker vs Direct Hire".
This depends on the specific client's policy. For most security assignments at the logistics hub, the client will provide any site-specific high-visibility clothing or PPE required (e.g., safety boots, hi-vis vest, hard hat if needed). You are typically expected to provide your own smart, black trousers and a suitable shirt/blouse. Your consultant will confirm the exact dress code and what is provided before you start your first shift. We ensure you have all the necessary information to present yourself professionally and safely.
