Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Warehouse Operative / Picker Packer in Harrow, your day will be varied and active. You will be an integral part of the warehouse team, responsible for:

• Order Picking: Accurately picking products from warehouse locations using paper pick lists, voice-pick systems, or handheld RF scanners to fulfil customer orders.
• Packing & Dispatch: Safely and securely packing items into appropriate cartons, applying shipping labels, and preparing orders for dispatch via courier or internal transport.
• Stock Management: Assisting with goods-in processes, unloading deliveries, checking quantities, and putting stock away in designated locations. Conducting periodic stock counts.
• Quality Control Inspection: Performing basic Quality Control Inspector duties by checking items for damage or discrepancies before dispatch, ensuring only perfect products leave the warehouse.
• Health & Safety & Housekeeping: Adhering to all site safety protocols, including safe manual handling techniques. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area, which can include duties overlapping with a Site Cleaner to ensure a safe environment.
• Using MHE: Operating manual handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet trucks, pump trucks, and, for licensed operatives, counterbalance or reach forklifts to move stock safely.
• Team Collaboration: Working effectively as part of a team to meet daily targets and KPIs, communicating any issues or shortages to supervisors promptly.

Essential Skills & Experience We Require

To be successful in this Warehouse Operative role, you should possess the following attributes. We value a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude above all.

• Proven Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, or similar fast-paced environment as a Packer, Picker, or General Operative.
• Physical Fitness & Stamina: The role involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting (adhering to safe manual handling limits).
• Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy for picking and packing orders correctly, minimising errors which impact customer satisfaction.
• Reliability & Punctuality: A consistent and reliable attendance record. The ability to start early shifts (e.g., 6 AM) or work late shifts as required.
• Basic Numeracy & Literacy: Comfortable reading pick lists, noting quantities, and using basic digital devices.
• Team Player Attitude: A positive, cooperative approach to work and the ability to integrate quickly into an existing team.
• Safety Consciousness: A genuine commitment to working safely and following all site rules and procedures.
