Our client, a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider based in the heart of Bolton BL1, requires a hands-on and proactive Warehouse Supervisor to join their operation on an immediate temporary basis. This role is critical to maintaining the smooth flow of goods in a high-volume, multi-client environment, serving sectors from retail to manufacturing. You will be directly responsible for a team of warehouse operatives, ensuring safety, productivity, and accuracy are paramount.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties
- Team Leadership & Performance Management: Directly supervise a team of 10-15 warehouse operatives, including pickers, packers, and loaders. Conduct daily briefings, allocate tasks, monitor performance against KPIs (Picks per Hour, Order Accuracy), and provide coaching and feedback.
- Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to site HSE policies. Conduct regular safety walks, ensure correct PPE usage, investigate near misses, and maintain a culture of safety-first. You will be the point of contact for all safety matters on your shift.
- Operational Efficiency & Workflow: Plan and organise the daily workload to meet despatch deadlines. Coordinate with the inbound and outbound teams to optimise space utilisation and workflow. Troubleshoot bottlenecks in real-time to maintain productivity.
- Inventory Control & Accuracy: Oversight of cycle counting, stock location management, and investigating discrepancies. Ensure the Warehouse Management System (WMS) is used correctly by your team to maintain 99.8%+ inventory accuracy.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the warehouse floor and the shift manager. Report on shift performance, highlight issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Provide exceptional service to the client's customers.
- Equipment & Resource Management: Ensure MHE (Forklifts, PPTs) are operated safely and are available for use. Manage the allocation of equipment and report any maintenance needs promptly.
What We're Looking For (Essential Requirements)
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a warehouse supervisory or team leader role within a fast-paced logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Leadership & People Skills: Demonstrable ability to motivate, manage, and develop a diverse team. Experience with performance management and conflict resolution.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of warehouse processes (receiving, put-away, picking, packing, despatch), inventory principles, and WMS systems. Familiarity with Lean or 5S methodologies is a significant advantage.
- Safety Certification & Mindset: A valid IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification is highly desirable, alongside a relentless commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Problem-Solving & Initiative: Ability to think on your feet, make data-informed decisions under pressure, and drive improvements without constant supervision.
- Communication & IT Literacy: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and experience with warehouse management software.
